TAPPER: How did you interpret that remark?

COTTON: I think he's obviously making a joke about how bad things have been under Joe Biden and how good they will be if we send President Trump back to the White House, so we can turn the country around again.

That's what the American people know. For four years, things were good with President Trump. We had stable prices, a growing economy, peace and stability around the world. Under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, everything has gone to hell.

COTTON: She wants to forcibly confiscate guns without even an act of Congress to do so.

Kamala Harris is a dangerous liberal. She makes Joe Biden look competent and moderate by contrast.

Bangladesh student leaders arrested 'for their own safety'

Bangladeshi authorities say three leaders of recent protests who were forcibly removed from the hospital by plainclothes detectives on Friday have been taken into custody for their own safety.

The three students include Nahid Islam, the head of the protest group Students Against Discrimination, and two other senior members. Islam earlier this week told AFP news agency he was being treated at the hospital in the capital, Dhaka, for injuries police inflicted on him during an earlier round of detention. 

The trio coordinated recent nationwide street rallies that triggered a police crackdown during which at least 200 people are estimated to have died.

House GOP leaders ask members to stop making racial attacks against Harris

 That is an actual headline from the Washington Post.  Republicans held a closed door meeting on Capitol Hill and implored (Not really) members to stop the racist attacks against Vice President Harris. The fact that they felt a need to do this says a great deal about the Republican Party and its members.

Almost immediately after President Biden announced Sunday that he was endorsing Harris to replace him on the ticket, Republicans began their offensive, with some veering into attacks over the race and gender of the first Black and South Asian woman to serve as vice president.

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), in a post on X, called Harris a “DEI vice president” — referring to “diversity, equity and inclusion.” 

On Wednesday, Burchett said that while he wishes he hadn’t made those comments about Harris, “it was the truth.”

“It’s not racist behavior,” he told SiriusXM. “That’s the furthest thing from my mind. I just want the best players put in.”

Several 'leading' conservatives who contributed to Project 2025 now running from it

The Intercept reported Friday that four additional groups that were originally listed as supporting organizations of the far-right Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 playbook have jumped ship. This exodus includes groups whose leaders authored paragraphs and sections of the highly controversial 920-page document outlining extreme policy objectives for the next Republican administration to enact.

One of those groups, the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), is described as an "influential think tank" for Republican-aligned economic policy. While the Heritage Foundation's list of Project 2025 partner organizations number near 100, CEI was one of the original 21 groups that first joined forces with Heritage to produce the document (referring to as "leading conservative partners" in June of 2022).The group's president, Kent Lassman, contributed a chapter along with CEI senior fellow Daren Bakst.

I don't understand why they wouldn't be very proud of their willingness to create an American dictatorship led by the orange stable genius.  

Project 2025 really is a road map to creating an authoritarian state in America.

The US senator Bob Menendez has been convicted of accepting bribes of cash, gold and a luxury car from three New Jersey businessmen.

The jury’s verdict against the New Jersey Democrat was still being read on Tuesday at a federal courthouse in New York City.

Over a nine-week trial, prosecutors said that Menendez abused the power of his office to protect allies from criminal investigations and enrich associates, including his wife, through acts that included meeting with Egyptian intelligence officials and helping that country access millions of dollars in US military aid.

Peter Navarro Joins Other Criminals At Republican Convention

 Peter Navarro currently a guest of the government in Miami (As in a prisoner) will be speaking at this weeks Republican criminal reunion in Milwaukee. 

Former White House trade advisor Peter Navarro, who is currently in jail on contempt of Congress charges, is expected to speak at next week’s Republican National Convention just hours after his release.

That’s according to two people familiar with the event’s schedule who spoke on condition of anonymity to share details before they were formally announced.

Navarro is set to be released from a Miami prison on Wednesday, July 17, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ online database of current inmates. That would give him just enough time to board a plane and make it to Milwaukee before the convention wraps Thursday.
