Brazil Blocks X After Musk Ignores Court Orders
Brazil blocked the social network X on Friday after its owner, Elon Musk, refused to comply with a Brazilian judge’s orders to suspend certain accounts, the biggest test yet of the billionaire’s efforts to transform the site into a digital town square where just about anything goes.
Alexandre de Moraes, a Brazilian Supreme Court justice, ordered internet providers to block access to X across the nation of 200 million because the company lacked a necessary legal representative in Brazil.
Mr. Musk closed X’s office in Brazil last week after Justice Moraes threatened arrests for ignoring his orders to remove X accounts that he said broke Brazilian laws.
TPM: Arlington Visit Was A Fake Memorial To Set Up Biden, Harris
"Look how they didn't even come to the memorial for the soldiers they got killed!"
It's not a good sign that no one seems to be able to make Trump follow the law, and his parole officer seems to be missing in action.
According to Talking Points Memo, the whole mess was a pretend event put together so the Trumpers could claim Joe Biden and Kamala Harris didn't bother to attend.
Three days ago, the Trump campaign held a campaign event at Arlington National Cemetery. The idea was to lay a wreath honoring the 13 members of the U.S. military who were killed during the evacuation of Kabul in 2021 and film a political ad. They would distribute the video and attack Vice President Harris and President Biden for not “showing up” for their campaign event, which they sought to portray was an established memorial. As soon as the video circulated, military policy experts I know said right off the bat they were shocked that the campaign had been allowed to hold a campaign event on the grounds of the cemetery and circulate video of it. It isn’t just unseemly. It’s against the law. How were they allowed to do that?
Everything he does is for his self aggrandizement.

Trump staffers reported over altercation at Arlington cemetery during photo op
Officials at military cemetery say two campaign members ‘verbally abused and pushed’ a representative
Officials at Arlington national cemetery have filed a report over the behavior of members of Donald Trump’s campaign staff who reportedly shoved and verbally abused an employee during a “crass” photo opportunity for the Republican presidential candidate.
The officials confirmed that a confrontation took place at the Virginia cemetery on Monday after the former president participated in a wreath-laying ceremony for 13 US servicemen and -women killed in a 2021 suicide bomb attack in Kabul, Afghanistan.
“Federal law prohibits political campaign or election-related activities within Army National Military Cemeteries, to include photographers, content creators or any other persons attending for purposes, or in direct support of a partisan political candidate’s campaign,” the statement said, adding that “a report was filed” over the incident.
Donald Trump has called those who've served in the military suckers and losers and refused to visit a World War 1 American cemetery in France because it was raining.

Trump Can't Win On Character
Rich Lowery writing in the New York Times postulated that Donald Trump a man with immense character flaws could win the election in November based on wait for it: His character. The man has zero character.
The New York Times recently published an op-ed by Rich Lowry that has sparked widespread ridicule online.
Titled "Trump Can Win on Character," the piece argues that former President Donald Trump’s best strategy for winning the 2024 election lies in attacking Vice President Kamala Harris's character.
Lowry, who is the editor-in-chief of the conservative National Review, suggests that Trump should focus on portraying Harris as "weak, a phony, and uninterested in the country or the middle class" to gain an advantage.
The article has drawn sharp criticism and mockery, with many finding the idea that Trump—often criticised for his own character and behaviour—could win a race based on character to be deeply ironic.
Rich Lowery doesn't understand irony.
Rudy: Bannon Tortured By Lack Of Access To Television
The former mayor of New York City lashed out at the Bureau of Prisons and Attorney General Merrick Garland while acting as a stand-in for Bannon during Tuesday’s episode of the former White House strategist’s streaming series, “War Room: Battleground.”
Joined by MyPillow CEO and election conspiracy enthusiast, Mike Lindell, Giuliani claimed Bannon was being subjected to cruel treatment as he serves his four-month sentence for flouting a 2021 subpoena from congress. “Steve unfortunately can’t hear this broadcast, which is an outrage,” the man formerly known as “America’s Mayor” complained.
The person who's actually being tortured is the guys cellmate. As Bannon is averse to bathing. Imagine having to live with that smell 24/7 for 4 months. Torture.

GOP Group Claims Dred Scott Ruling Disqualifies Harris From Presidency
Birtherism 2.0 cites the most racist and reviled Supreme Court decision to claim Oakland-born Kamala Harris is not a natural-born citizen.
The Dred Scott decision, which ruled that enslaved people were not U.S. citizens, is often cited as the worst Supreme Court decision ever, the National Archives states on its website. Also, it was “overturned by the 13th and 14th amendments to the Constitution, which abolished slavery and declared all persons born in the United States to be citizens of the United States.”
But the National Federation of Republican Assemblies (NFRA), an organization with 26 chapters in the U.S. and which once included Ronald Reagan in its membership, is using that decision to argue that born-in-the-USA Kamala Harris is not a natural-born citizen. The resolution is undated. But we know it was drawn up during the 2024 presidential campaign because it also cites Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy as disqualified.

AlterNet has more on the resolution, which was posted to Bluesky by attorney Andrew Fleischman:
The NFRA argued that the phrase "natural born citizen" is defined as "a person born on American soil of parents who are both citizens of the United States at the time of the child's birth."

Trump To Host Jan. 6 ‘Awards Gala’ Next Month
Nope, not The Onion, though it should be.
Donald Trump’s New Jersey golf club is hosting a “J6 Awards Gala” early next month. The felonious insurrectionist, Rudy Giuliani and Vivek Ramaswamy are invited speakers to the event originally scheduled for earlier this month, now re-scheduled for September 5th.
Attendees have a chance to win a plaque commemorating the fact that MAGA folks bought a bunch of copies of his J6 "song" called Justice for All earning him a fleeting spot on the Billboard music chart.
That song takes audio of Trump reciting the pledge of allegiance and mixes it in with J6 defendants singing the national anthem, alternating between lines. Attendees at Trump's events often struggle to sing and recite along.
Event description: "We gather to pay tribute not only to these individuals but to all J6 defendants who have shown incredible courage and sacrifice."
The real prizes should be a free orange jump suit, a stay in federal prison and QAnon tattooed to their foreheads.

Russian law enforcement authorities said Thursday that they have filed criminal charges against a CNN reporter and two Ukrainian journalists for illegally crossing the border into Ukrainian-held territory of the Kursk region during a reporting assignment.
“Criminal charges have been filed, and investigations are underway,” a spokesperson for Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) told the state-run Interfax news agency.

Patrick Delaney Is Sorry Because He Got Caught
The boss of Foxtel - a majority News Corp-owned cable television company in Australia - has "unreservedly" apologised after an image surfaced of him performing a Nazi salute.
Patrick Delaney said he believed he was showing "the similarity" between the gesture and one used by some fans of a Western Sydney soccer club when the photo was taken a decade ago.
"Regardless of the context, the fact I demonstrated this offensive salute was wrong," he said in an email to staff seen by the BBC.
Ron Johnson Idiot (I) Wisconsin Wants an Investigation
Ron Johnson the sailed boat fueled Senator from Wisconsin would like to investigate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz for; Wait for it. Getting married on the anniversary of the Tiananmen massacre.
Republican Senator Ron Johnson attacked Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz over his ties to China, claiming it’s a red flag that the “radical leftist” got married “on the anniversary of Tiananmen Square.”
Speaking to Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business, the Wisconsin lawmaker and member of the Senate Homeland Security Committee said of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and her running mate: “She’s a radical leftist. She chose another radical leftist. They’re just assuming the mainstream media is not going to cover his background.
“The House is going to investigate it now — it’s very strange. He got married on the anniversary of Tiananmen Square. He’s gone to China. He’s taught in China. He’s got deep connections to China.”
Dear Ron a large number of Americans have traveled to, lived in and have worked in China. You and the those fools in the House should investigate that.

Inside Project 2025’s Secret Training Videos
Dan Huff, a former legal adviser in the White House Presidential Personnel Office under Trump, says in another video that future appointees should be prepared to enact significant changes in American government and be ready to face blowback when they do.
“If you’re not on board with helping implement a dramatic course correction because you’re afraid it’ll damage your future employment prospects, it’ll harm you socially — look, I get it,” Huff says. “That’s a real danger. It’s a real thing. But please: Do us all a favor and sit this one out.”“Eradicate Climate Change References”
The project’s experts outline regulatory and policy changes that future political appointees should prepare for in a Republican administration.
One video, titled “Hidden Meanings: The Monsters in the Attic,” is a 50-minute discussion of supposed left-wing code words and biased language that future appointees should be aware of and root out. In that video, Kozma says that U.S. intelligence agencies have named climate change as an increasingly dire threat to global stability, which, she says, illustrates how the issue “has infiltrated every part of the federal government.”
Later in the video, Katie Sullivan, the former acting assistant attorney general under Trump, advocates for removing so-called critical race theory from public education without saying how the federal government would accomplish that. (Elementary and secondary education curricula are typically set at the state and local level, not by the federal government.)

Trump's Helicopter Crash Story Never Even Happened
During his insane "press conference" yesterday (which was really one long Festivus rant), Trump told a jaw-dropping story about nearly dying in a helicopter ride with Willie Brown, the former California politician and ex-boyfriend of Vice President Kamala Harris. Via the New York Times:
It wasn’t the famous former San Francisco mayor on the helicopter flight at all. It was Gov. Jerry Brown, the former governor of California, who bears little resemblance to Willie Brown.
There was also no emergency landing, and the helicopter’s passengers were never in any danger at all, according to Gov. Gavin Newsom, who was also on the flight.
Jerry Brown, who left office in January 2019, said through a spokesman, “There was no emergency landing and no discussion of Kamala Harris.”
“I call complete B.S.,” Mr. Newsom said, laughing out loud.

Heritage President Delays Project 2025 Book Publication 'Indefinitely'
Things are not going well in the alternate reality otherwise known as the far right of the Heritage Foundation.
Kevin Roberts, president of the conservative Heritage Foundation, will delay publication of his forthcoming book in the wake of a media firestorm sparked by Democratic criticism of the Heritage-led initiative Project 2025, RealClearPolitics is first to report.
Notably, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, a friend of Roberts and the Republican nominee for vice president, wrote the foreword of that book entitled “Dawn’s Early Light.”
“There’s a time for writing, reading, and book tours – and a time to put down the books and go fight like hell to take back our country,” Roberts wrote in a statement to RCP. “That’s why I’ve chosen to move my book’s publication and promotion to after the election.”

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina resigns and flees country as protesters storm palace
As we have reported, thousands of people have gone out in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka to celebrate the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
But amongst the celebrations, there are reports of looting. Demonstrators breaking into Hasina's official residence and taking furniture with a statue of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman - Hasina's father - vandalised.
Despite historic ties, India will want to tread carefully
Sheikh Hasina and her family share historic ties with India.
India fought alongside Bangladesh’s freedom leaders in its war for independence from Pakistan in 1971, after which Sheikh Hasina’s father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman became Bangladesh’s first president.
In 1975, after the assassination of her father and most of her family in Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina and her sister were granted political asylum in India for several years.
Across political parties in India, Hasina has found support because the Indian establishment has long seen her as a way of keeping radical Islamist groups out of power in Bangladesh.
- The army chief of Bangladesh says Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned after weeks of unrest. Her aide says she fled the capital, Dhaka, by helicopter.
- In an address to the nation, General Waker-Uz-Zaman also says an interim government will be formed to run the country.
- Thousands of people take to the streets to celebrate, while many storm the prime minister’s official residence.
- Demonstrations that began last month over governmental job quotas had expanded into nationwide unrest.
- Students have been marching on Dhaka to demand justice for some 300 people killed since last month.

Critics Clap Back After Donny Dumbf*ck Questions Kamala's IQ
Racist grandpa Donald Trump, who won the keys to the White House in 2016 with zero political experience and a not-so-savvy business mind, no matter how much he tries to spin it, pulled out that racist dog whistle and blew it hard at his rally in Georgia on Friday night. When Trump talks about Black women, he typically calls them low-IQ individuals. It's as if the former President doesn't want the coveted woman vote and Black vote.
During his time in office, the serial bankruptcy filer didn't read the written intelligence reports that he was given. Instead, he looked at visuals such as graphs, charts, etc. In 2018, Trump boasted of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) given under now-Texas Rep. Drunky McDrunkerson, claiming he "aced it" for repeating the words "Person, woman, man, camera, TV."
