President Joe Biden directed the Department of Defense to provide firefighting personnel, he said in a media briefing Wednesday.
The federal government will also provide five large air tankers — aircraft that can carry up to 4,000 gallons of water — from the U.S. Forest Service, 10 federal firefighting helicopters and dozens of fire engines from the U.S. Forest Service.
Ten Navy helicopters carrying water buckets will also be arriving from San Diego.
The California and Nevada National Guards will each deploy two aircraft used for firefighting.
