Why Democracy Rewards Idiots — Plato Saw It Coming 2,400 Years Ago

Plato watched democracy destroy Athens by rewarding charisma over competence. 2,400 years later, we're making the exact same mistakes. Here's why.

Why do the most qualified people rarely lead countries? Why do we keep electing leaders who promise everything and deliver nothing? In 2005, Princeton researchers proved voters predict election winners in 1 SECOND based purely on facial features - with 70% accuracy. Five-year-olds pick election winners at the same rate as adults.

Vance dismisses Watergate scandal, says ‘deep state’ went after Nixon

Senator Barry Goldwater, Republican Senator from Arizona went to the White House in late July 1974 and told Nixon he had only four votes in the Senate and “one of them is not mine”. This told Nixon that the Senate would vote to convict him and remove him from office. The articles of impeachment had already been voted on by the House Judiciary committee (Chairman Rodino) and was certain to pass the full House of Representatives. Several days later, on August 08, 1974, Nixon went on national television announcing his resignation “effective at noon tomorrow at which time Vice President Ford will be sworn in as President”. At about the same time period, Nixon got a letter from the head of the national republican committee which at the time was George HW Bush advising him to resign.

There's J.D. Vance's' deep state. A group of Republican Senators.

Nixon used Americas intelligence services and the Justice Department to go after his perceived enemies.  Which is how the deep state is constructed.

Woman Allegedly Cited After Dipping Hand Into Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool | TMZ DC

Before she was eventually handed what looked like a citation by a police officer, the video shows that the woman was detained by a dozen men, including more national guard soldiers, US park police officers and at least one US Marshal.

At one stage, two of the guardsmen appeared to laugh with the woman over her arrest.

Later on Monday, the same video journalist also spoke to a man being led away in handcuffs from the pool area by US Park Police officers. The man said that he had been arrested for “yelling at Oklahoma state troopers.”

Asked why he was yelling at them, the man replied, “Because they’re here.” The federal takeover of policing in Washington DC is broadly resented in the city.

When the journalist asked why he would yell at the Oklahoma officers for policing the capital, the man laughed and said, “Lick the boot. If you love the boot, lick it.”
